Bald-faced hornets can aggressively defend an active nest, so it should not be disturbed until its status is known. Colonies typically die out in late fall, and old nests are not reused the following year. (University of Maryland).
Enclosed, gray, papery construction made from chewed wood fibers. Layered, swirling outer surface that resembles papier-mâché. An entrance near the lower portion of the nest. Aerial placement, attached high up to a structure.
